Tenets of The Apostolic Church
Every member of the church is expected to have knowledge of the following and believe them:
- The Unity of the God head and the Trinity of the persons therein. (Genesis 1:1; Matt 3:16-17; 1 John 5:7)
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Matt 3:16-17
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens
were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and
these three are one.
- The utter depravity of human nature, the necessity for Repentance and Regeneration and the Eternal Doom of the finally impenitent i.e. unrepentant.(Gen 3:1-19; Isaiah 53:6; Acts 2:38; 17:30, John 5:28-29; Daniel 12:2; Rom 2:7, 6:23; 1 John 1:1-2

1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And
he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Isaiah 53:6
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath
laid on him the iniquity of us all.

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

- The Virgin Birth, Sinless Life, Atoning Death, Triumphant Resurrection, Ascension and Abiding Intercession of Our Lord Jesus Christ. His Second coming and Millennial Reign upon earth. (John 8:46; 14:30; Col. 1:15; 2 Corinthians 5:19; Romans 3:25; Acts 2:36; Phil. 2:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

- Justification and Sanctification of the Believer through the finished work of Christ. (Acts 2:38; Luke 15:7; Romans 4:25; 5:16; 1 Corinthians 1:30; 1 Thessalonians 4:3)

Luke 15:7
7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than

Romans 4:25
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Romans 5:16
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to
condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

- The Baptism of the Holy Ghost for believers with signs following. (I Corinthians 12:8-11; Mark 16:17; Acts 2:4; and Galatians 5:22)

- The nine gifts of the Holy Ghost for the edification, exhortation and comfort of the Church, which is the body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)

- The Sacraments of Baptism by immersion and of the Lord’s Supper. (Rom 6:4, 6:11, 6:13-14, Luke 3:21; Mark 16:16, Luke 2:22-24, 34; Mark 10:16, Luke 22:19-20; Matt. 26:21-29; Acts 20:7)

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from
the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus

13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves

Luke 2:22-24

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness:

21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they

- Church Government by Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, Elders, Deacons and Deaconesses. (Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Corinthians 12:28)

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and
teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the
body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers,
after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
- The possibility of falling from Grace. (1 Corinthians 10:12, 1 John 5:11, John 15:4, 1 John 5:12, Romans 5:1-2, John 8:51, 1 Timothy 4:1, 16; 2 Timothy 3:13-15, 1 Corinthians 15:1, Colossians 1:21-23)

11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Romans 5:1-2

- The obligatory nature of Tithes and Offerings. (Malachi 3:10, Matthew 23:23, Hebrews 7:1-4; Luke 6:38; Acts 20:35)

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me
now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you
out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and
cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these
ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Hebrews 7:1-4

from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all;
first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King
of peace; 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days,
nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. 4 Now consider
how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
Luke 6:38
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and
running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it
shall be measured to you again.
Acts 20:35
35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to
remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
- Divine Healing through Obedience to the Command of our Lord Jesus Christ and Faith in HIS Name and merit of His Blood for all sickness, disease and infirmities. (Exodus 15:26, Isaiah 53:5, Psalm 103:2)

26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which
is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none

- Never come to the House of God without prayer before coming (Matt 6:6, Eph 6:18).

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
- Be in your seat at the commencement of the service. You will thus be a good example to those who are late and neglectful. (Gen 22:3, Psa 108:2, Prov 8:17, Song of Solomon 7:12-13).

3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

- Bring your children with you to the House of God. Relatives and servants also have souls. It is your duty and privilege to take care of them. (Matt 19:14, Ex 20:10, Acts 10:24, John 1:41-45, Gen 18:19).

- Make the Pastor your personal friend. His sympathy, support and counsel are needed by you. Constantly pray for him. (I Thess 2:7, Joel 2:17, Mal 2:7, Rom 15:30, II Cor 1:11, Eph 6:19, Heb 13:17).

7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
Mal 2:7
7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
Rom 15:30
30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

11 Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

- Make the Church your spiritual home, (Acts 2:46-47).
Acts 2:46-47 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
- When conversing on the hearths, never speak disrespectfully or criticisingly of God’s servants, or their ministrations, in the presence of your children, If you sow the wind, you may expect to reap the whirlwind. (Gal 6:7).

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
- Take your Bible with you to the House of God. (Ps 1:2, 119:16, 72, Rom 15:4, II Tim 3:16-17).

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
II Tim 3:16-17 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
- Enter reverently, pray fervently, listen attentively, give praise from a grateful heart and worship God in the beauty of holiness. (Ps 118:27-29, Eccl 5:1, Rom 12:11, James 1:19).
Ps 118:27-29 27 God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar. 28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.
29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
James 1:19
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

Rules of Belief
The following is expected of the member of the church:
- A personal testimony of your salvation in Christ (Acts 4:12, Rom 10:9).
Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among
men, whereby we must be saved.
Rom 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God
hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
- Your acknowledgement of, and obedience to, the Order and Officers of the Church, Apostles, Elders, Deacons, and Deaconesses (Heb 13:17, Eph 4:11, I Cor 12:28).

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as
they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is
unprofitable for you.

- Your presence in the meetings of the church and abidance in full communion, that is, not to absent yourself more than three times from Communion without sufficient reason given for your absence (Heb 10:25).

- Your conformity with the Fundamental Doctrines of the Church, as well as with the two ordinances, namely, Baptism by Immersion, and the Lord’s Supper. (II John 1:9, Rom 6:17, 6:4, Luke 22:19, I Cor 11:24.
II John 1:9
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth
in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form
of doctrine which was delivered you.

- That you contribute towards the support of the cause, as taught unto us in the word of God. (Gen 14:20, 28, 22, Lev 27:30, I Chro 29:14, I Cor 16:1-2, Matt 23, Heb 7:8-17).

8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that

was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him. 11 If therefore perfection were by the
Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that
another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of
Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 13
For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave
attendance at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses
spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude
of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal
commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever
after the order of Melchisedec.
- That you keep the counsel of the Church within the Church (Matt 7:6).

6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they
trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
- That you pray for and help every member, remembering that we are joint members in the Body of Christ. (Heb 10:24, I Cor 12:25-26, I Tim 2:1, Gal 6:2).
